New Genesis Productions Youth Theatre offers a fearless approach to the great bard, William Shakespeare that encourages the youth actor to challenge themselves and to dig deep in the beauty, relevance and poetry of his plays. For almost two decades NGP has brought together the enduring words of Shakespeare with the time tested traditions of theatre with the vibrancy, imagination and talent of the youth from New York’s Hudson Valley.
Each summer NGP conducts theatre intensive day camps in the Catskill Mountains. Open to ages 7-17. Our young actors train in the disciplines of acting, voice, movement and stage combat. They develop a deep knowledge of and emotional connection to Shakespeare through this intensive process of rehearsal and performance. The rehearsal process provides time to learn and understand Shakespeare’s language and building group dynamics essential to persona and group success. Acting students gain an understanding of Shakespeare’s world of theatre, as well as specific acting skills. The Summer Shakespeare Intensives culminate in fully staged productions at the Little Globe Outdoor Theater.

Shakespeare Intensive Camps
This summer NGP’s legendary day camps for ages 7-17 will rehearse and perform Shakespeare’s plays on an enchanting outdoor stage in a forest of the Catskill Mountains.
Three two-week day camps are scheduled with rehearsals and performances at the Little Globe Outdoor Theater. These camps serve as an introduction to Shakespeare for the younger students. We examine a condensed version of a play where the line load is lighter then the full text, but still challenge each student. The camps for the older students give a fuller challenge with full production performances on the last weekend.
